New Joint Review website launched

A new website that provides people with information on the quality of local authority social services has been launched today (Wednesday 27 July)

The website will have details of the joint reviews carried out by the Social Services Inspectorate for Wales and the Wales Audit Office.

The reviews examine how well councils provide social services for vulnerable children, elderly people, people with physical, sensory and learning disabilities, people with mental health problems, other vulnerable groups and their carers.

The joint reviews help to improve these vital public services and ensure they meet the needs of local people. Joint reviews have been very successful in helping councils to identify their strengths and where they need to improve. They have become challenging events generating considerable pressure for change.

The website contains reports of reviews in individual local authorities and a wealth of other material, including the guide to joint reviews in Wales, copies of leaflets and a detailed handbook. It will allow easier and quicker access to joint review information and materials for all those involved.

Graham Williams, Chief Inspector said: "We hope people in Wales will find this wesite useful. We want the programme of joint reviews to be delivered in as transparent and open as way as possible." Jeremy Colman, Auditor General for Wales added: "The new website will allow easier and quicker access to joint review information and materials for all those involved. It is one of the key means for ensuring a modern approach to inspection, encouraging wide participation in joint reviews and improving these vital local services."
